For the last 3 months, I started ditching commercial shampoo and conditioner. Because I realized, it’s about time to switch to sustainable lifestyle. One way to help protect Mother Earth is by reducing our wastes and leaving no trace of our carbon footprints.
And I am so happy there are too many local brands offering shampoo bars and have been trying to do their part by having zero packaging for their products as well.
Why switch to Shampoo Bar?
1. They are package free.
One of the main reason why I switch to shampoo bars is because they are much better for the environment than their bottled counterparts. I almost saved 6 plastic bottles of shampoos and conditioners from going to the landfills in just about 3 months.
I know, it’s just a small number but as we convert more people in switching to shampoo bars, more and more bottles will be diverted from landfills.
2. They are concentrated.
The shampoo bars are more concentrated than the usual shampoos and conditioners. That means one bar can last you up to 30-40 washes. Especially with proper care. So you save more money than buying the usual shampoo.
3. It makes your hair clean and soft.
Shampoo bars effectively wash any excess dirt, oil, or styling products out of your hair without stripping your hair’s natural oils. Thus leaving your hair feeling squeaky clean, healthy and soft.
Where to get shampoo bars?
I got mine from Ecorganics.PH
They sent me Detoxifying and Moisturizing, Mellow Yellow and Conditioner Bar.
I already tried few shampoo bars before but either my hair feels sticky or dry and worst I experienced breakout. Luckily, upon trying their shampoo bars and conditioner my hair loved it.

How to use:
Wet your hair. Rub the shampoo bar on your hands, create a nice lather. Using your fingers like a comb, smooth the lather along your hair. Gently massage it into scalp and hair, as you would with a bottled shampoo. Wash and rinse.
For best results, use conditioner bar after.
For 60g – it’s ₱180.
My hair is not that oily anymore compare when I still use the usual shampoo. I also tried to wash my hair every after 2 days and still, it’s not oily. I tried it without the conditioner and my hair is still soft.
One fact about me is that I only comb my hair once, every after a shower. So upon using this shampoo bar, my hair becomes so manageable and I won’t go back to the usual shampoo anymore.
I also noticed that my hair grow faster when I started to switch to shampoo bars
I will update this post when I finish my shampoo bar so I’ll let you know how long it lasts me.
Mellow Yellow Shampoo Bar
It is best for children and it is mild and gentle for sensitive scalp.
Cocoa butter, lavender oil, chamomile oil, oat protein, colloidal oatmeal, fragrance oil.
For 60g – It’s ₱180.
Zoe has a super sensitive skin so I am hoping this shampoo bar won’t trigger her rashes. Thankfully, for the past 2 weeks, there’s no allergic reaction.
Zoe has a curly hair and I used to spray detangler so her hair will become manageable but when she started using the mellow yellow her hair becomes softer and curlier. I also love the smell.
Perfect for every hair type and condition, treated, dry, damaged, and frizzy hair. Gentle enough, even for children.
Extra virgin coconut oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter, grapeseed oil, vitamin e, hydrolyzed oats, fragrance oil.
For 90g – It’s ₱200
How to use:
Wet the bar to warm and slightly soften it. This conditioner bar is concentrated, so you only need a little when using it. Rub the bar on your hands, and gently massage your hair with the tip of your fingertips. Comb through to ensure that each strand is well coated. Rinse and style your hair.
*Always keep in a dry place when not in use.
What I love about their shampoo bars is that it contains oils that already serve as hair conditioner. So on a normal day I can skip conditioner already. But with the conditioner bar our hair feels softer, silkier and shinier. Zoe don’t use it everyday though.
Have I already convinced you to make the switch?
I hope so, we badly need to help protect and save mother earth. Transitioning to shampoo bars is one of the easiest step to a sustainable lifestyle.
